Living Fully

Today, I’m honored to be posting at #LiveFully for my friend Evan Forester. Evan and his wife Morgan packed everything up and moved to New Zealand last summer.  Now that their boxes are unpacked and they are settling in, Evan asked me to answer a few questions about adoption and orphan care for his community: Why are you so passionate about adoption? What made you move from thinking about adoption to actually living it and doing it? How has adoption led to a more full life? Have there been any unexpected challenges? How did you cope with them? How do you hope […]

Orphan Sunday

Not everyone is called to adopt. But there aren’t very many people that would argue that we aren’t called to love and care for others in some way. Even the most cynical among us has to feel something, even if it’s anger or a jaded skepticism, when they see a photo of a naked, malnourished orphan standing alone in the bush on a red clay road to nowhere.  Let’s just admit it, we’ve all cried along with Sally Strothers at some point in our past. Most of us here have a heart for people in need. Many of y’all are […]

Home

Welcome to Fiction Friday. Every Friday I share with y’all a glimpse into the mind of Zach the Zombie and some of his friends. After the excitement of Zach’s entry into the City, I thought I’d share some very early sessions with Zach talking about history. You know the drill–this is not really edited, and also these are three different but related conversations. I appreciate your grace and forgiveness for all the flaws and inconsistencies!   The storytellers try to tell us that we were different a long time ago, that we were those people in The Days When There Was […]

Writers Unite

Can I be honest with you? Yeah? Thanks. Ok, I gotta tell ya, I’m getting a little tired of writing about writing. That’s why I got so excited when my friend Jim Woods announced the month of October for Writers Unite, a time for those of us who call ourselves writers (whether we get paid for our words or not) to rekindle our passion for the written word, and set aside the distractions of platform building and social media and traffic analysis. For me, the fact that this coincides with this new chapter in my life…Bonus! So you might have noticed […]

Third Time’s a Charm?

Welcome to Fiction Friday. Every Friday I share with y’all a glimpse into the mind of Zach the Zombie and some of his friends. For the last two weeks, Zach has been trying to get over the City wall, but has mysteriously stopped his climb. Will the third time be a charm? You know the drill–this is not really edited, and there are some challenges with this one. I appreciate your grace and forgiveness for all the flaws!   The dusty land drops away just beyond my tree. The low trees and scrubby bushes don’t provide a lot of cover, but I […]
